Membrane Panels and Overlays

In many applications a goodlooking front panel resistant to water, dust, chemicals, mechanical wear and other challenges is wanted. By using a Membrane Panel, you get the layout and graphic design you want for your product with integrated tactile keys, LED’s and display window.
The graphics are normally printed on the rear side of the Overlay (the Overlay is the outer layer of the Membrane Panel) and therefore resistant to mechanical wear and chemicals.
You can also choose an Overlay made by molded silicon which will give more flexibility to shape your keys and other details on the panel as you like.
You only need to send us a simple drawing, handmade is ok, and we guide you to a design which will fulfill your demands regarding looks, functionality and durability over time. This regardless of whether your product will be used in an indoor office environment or being part of a rugged outdoor application or facing oils or cleaning chemicals. IP67 and 1M keypresses are achievable and we provide cost effective and high quality products.
If you just want the Overlay (no electronics) we are more than happy to produce that for you.
We produce low volumes in Sweden and 100+ volumes in India and China. This makes us competitive regarding price and quality.

Membrane Panels

We always guide you in the design of your Membrane Keyboard to ensure you get the optimum solution for your product. You send us your ideas as a sketch or a drawing (mechanical and an electrical schematic), the colors are preferably from the Pantone or RAL ranges (we can translate other color codes).

All materials used are of the highest standards, and we use metal domes to ensure the right tactile feeling when pressing the keys.

Overlays

You can use any color or colors in your design, we just need the Pantone or RAL code for it.

PET or PC Overlays: This is the most commonly use Overlay for Membrane Panels. All graphics are screen printed on the rear surface of the Overlay making it very durable against mechanical wear and chemicals. We ship them with an adhesive layer on the rear suitable for your application, only for you to assemble.

Silicon Ovelays: A Silicon overlay is molded, therefore a molding tool is needed to be made to start with. Silicon overlays give a greater freedom to design your front panel and it normally enhances the tactile feeling when pressing a key compared to PET or PC Overlays.

However, the printed graphics will be printed on the front side and may therefore be more sensitive to mechanical wear or chemicals. As this Overlay needs a molding tool to start with the tooling cost is somewhat higher than for an Overlay with a PET or PC Overlay. However, the volume production price does not normally differ much.
